Clara studied sports broadcasting at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, in preparation for a professional career. Clara covered the Salt Lake City market for KBYU Eleven News on a weekly basis while at BYU. She covered both home and road games for the BYU football and basketball teams, as well as the 2015 WCC Basketball Tournament, when the BYU women’s team won first place and the BYU men’s team finished second.

She has received hands-on training from elite athletes, including ESPN SportsNation’s Marcellus Wiley. Clara had the opportunity to work in two professional newsrooms while in Utah: BYUtv and KSL. Clara was able to cover sports at all levels with these two stations, including high school, collegiate, and professional with the Utah Jazz.

Clara ventured into the unknown after graduation, moving to Great Falls, Montana, to assist oversee a four-person sports department. Clara hosted four regional shows nightly, including the best local and regional sports programming. She was a one-woman show reporter who worked hard to get involved in the community and earn the trust of the teams she worked with to convey their tales. She was in charge of a team of three additional sports reporters, as well as the department’s scheduling, content, and local team coverage.

Clara also worked as a sideline reporter for SWX in Montana, a rural station that broadcasts live local sporting events. Clara has opted to leave her comfort zone and relocate to the South, where she is now based in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She works for KFSM, the CBS affiliate in the Fort Smith/Fayetteville/Rogers area, as a weekend sports anchor and weekday sports reporter. Clara has enjoyed covering SEC athletics and some of the best high school football in the country while living in Arkansas.
