At the age of 15, Campbell joined iO Theater to study improvisational comedy. She performed at the Northwestern University’s Mee-Ow Show. After four years, she relocated to Amsterdam in 2002. She spent three years as part of the comedy group Boom Chicago.
Campbell moved to Los Angeles in 2005. She started working with multiple comedy clubs such as The Groundlings and the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. The same year, Campbell appeared on MADtv as a theater manager.
Campbell featured as a character named “Pink” in the web series MegaBot in 2009. In September 2010, she became a writer for Season 36 of Saturday Night Live. In March 2011, Campbell appeared in GSN.’s Drew Carey’s Improv-A-Ganza, a short-form improv show.
Campbell has also appeared in multiple commercials including CiCi’s Pizza, Wendy’s, and Toyota. She was also featured in Activision’s “Mapathy” campaign for the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2009. She wrote The Midnight Show’s internet videos, including “Twilight with Cheeseburgers”, “Bavatar”, and “Drive Recklessly”.
