Solomon has had quite an impressive career. She arrived at the 13WMAZ team in October 2018 as a Multi-Skilled Journalist. Kayla graduated from Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication in May 2018. While at Temple, she was a reporter and anchor for OwlSports Update, a College Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award-Winning show on Temple TV. Through serving on this show, she had a chance to cover the Penn Relays and Temple football on their road to three consecutive NCAA bowl games. In Addition, Kayla was the president of the Temple Association of Black Journalists, a student chapter of NABJ, for two years. Via her leadership, the chapter was able to increase membership and hold programs on professional development.
She landed an internship with Fox 29 Philadelphia and later, a full-time news trainee position with Fox 5 in New York City. Kayla worked alongside a team of twenty other students. They organized a one-week camp for underprivileged children living in the Scranton area. She also worked in groups to give presentations on various topics such as bullying, teamwork and being safe on social media.
Kayla attended a week-long conference at Fordham University to gain knowledge in the world of journalism. Kayla Solomon worked in a group to interview New York City tourists. She also created a video package to present to the group leaders and LeadAmerica supervisors
