She began her weather career in 2006, interning with none other than WISN 12 Chief Meteorologist Mark Baden. Slater spent time with the WKOW Weather Team in Madison, Wisconsin, honing her on-camera talents. Slater also worked as an intern with the National Weather Service in Sullivan, Wisconsin.
Slater joined the WISN 12 Weather Team in June 2016. She earned a B.S. in Environmental Science from what is now Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin. While working at her first position in Jackson, Mississippi, Slater received a B.S. in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Lindsey and her husband moved to Mississippi in 2009 to work mornings at Fox station WDBD-TV. She covered the now-historic tornado outbreak on April 27, 2011, as well as heavy floods along the Mississippi River and even snowfall.
In 2012, one year after an EF-5 tornado hit Joplin, she relocated to Springfield, Missouri. She reported on everything from tornadoes to snow and ice. Ultimately, she returned to WISN 12 in 2016.
