He started his career as a reporter in Charlottesville, Virginia, covering the abduction of Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington and the death of University of Virginia lacrosse player Yeardley Love. In Shreveport, Louisiana, he worked as a reporter and anchor, and in St. Louis, he worked as a multi-media journalist.
Tracy’s final job before joining the Piedmont Triad was as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KTRK, an ABC affiliate in Houston. He covered some of Houston’s most important stories. He has traveled around the country to cover major topics such as the Ebola epidemic in Dallas, Michael Brown’s death in Ferguson, Alton Sterling’s police shooting in Baton Rouge, and the Charleston church massacre.
While Tracy has covered plenty of breaking events, he is most proud of his track record of providing a voice for those whose stories have been historically overlooked on local news and telling community-oriented stories that educate and engage viewers. Tracy took a break from reporting to work as the press secretary for the Houston Independent School District before joining FOX8. He was the spokesperson for Texas’ largest school system in that capacity.
