This work earned top honors from the Texas chapter of the Associated Press. He then moved to Eastern North Carolina and added anchoring news and sports to his resume along with producing his shows. Gilbert thinks it was his first crack at reporting.
Just before joining WDRB, he served as the weekend anchor at a FOX and ABC affiliate in Charleston, West Virginia.
