Kimera Bartee, born Kimera Anotchi Bartee was a professional baseball outfielder and coach from the United States. From 1996 to 2001, Bartee was a Major League Baseball (MLB) player for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and Colorado Rockies. He coached in the minor leagues before rejoining the Pittsburgh Pirates as a coach in 2017. Later, he worked as a coach for the Philadelphia Phillies before returning to the Tigers as first base coach in 2021.

Bartee grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and attended Omaha Central High School. He was the first Omaha Central graduate to play in the major leagues, and he was inducted into the Omaha Public Schools Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. Bartee attended Creighton University and was a member of the Creighton Bluejays baseball team. He played in the 1991 College World Series for Creighton. In 1992, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Cape Cod Baseball League’s Hyannis Mets.

The Baltimore Orioles drafted Bartee in the 14th round of the 1993 Major League Baseball Draft. On September 19, 1995, the Orioles sent Bartee to the Minnesota Twins as the player to be named later in a trade for pitcher Scott Erickson. He was drafted back by the Orioles during the Rule 5 draft at the 1995 MLB Winter Meetings. After being released by the Orioles in March of the following year, Bartee made his major league debut on April 3, 1996, with the Detroit Tigers. He spent the next few seasons with the Tigers as well as the Toledo Mud Hens at triple-A. Baseball America named him the International League’s fastest baserunner and best defensive outfielder in 1997.
He was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Cincinnati Reds in 1999, where he spent the majority of the 2000 season with the triple-A Louisville RiverBats. The following season, Bartee signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Angels after a bulging disk in his lower back landed him in Class-A Rancho Cucamonga for a rehab assignment. On July 13, 2001, the Angels traded him to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for future All-Star Chone Figgins. Dan O’Dowd, the Rockies’ general manager, called the move “the worst transaction” he’d made in his 12-year tenure. Before his final Major League game on August 3, 2001, Bartee went hitless in 15 at-bats with the Rockies.
Bartee was an outfielder for the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in 2003 and 2004, earning All-Star honors and an Atlantic League championship with the Ducks in 2004. Bartee returned to baseball as a coach after retiring as a player, at least in part because the job provided health insurance. Before taking over as manager of the State College Spikes, Bartee worked as a coach for the Delmarva Shorebirds and as a roving instructor for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
From 2017 to 2019, Bartee was the Pittsburgh Pirates’ first base coach and outfielder instructor. In 2020, he was the Philadelphia Phillies’ roving baserunning and bunting coordinator. The Tigers hired Bartee as their roving outfield and baserunning coordinator prior to the 2021 season. Bartee was named Tiger’s first base coach on July 16, 2021. He was hired as the Tigers’ first base coach for the 2022 season.
